The world of multi-media is changing rapidly. When our Grandparents used to go to the Nickelodeon, our parents grew up with TV, and today’s generation will watch a moving picture on almost any device. Until a few years ago, a free media player would be difficult to find, and complicated to use. The complication would be to find a so called ‘Codec’ (short for coder/decoder) that would allow you to play the movie in its present format. And formats we have plenty.
The best free media player so would have to be one, that could easily be used by anyone, play most of the formats out of the box, and of course play CD/DVD also, thus enabling you to do without a separate standalone DVD-Player, and allowing you to watch your films from your DVD-Drive that comes with your PC directly on your computer screen.
