In the beginning of word processing, the feature of expanding a given abbreviation, say ‘br’ to ‘best regards’, was considered to be awesome. Secretaries spend hours on teaching their word processor to handle those ‘boilerplates’ aka Auto-Complete, in order to save time and avoid unnecessary mistakes.
Sometimes the wording needs to be very precise and accurate or simply complete as in case of an official email signature. Even with your own personal website you might find it useful to spice up contact with your visitors with well tailored ‘boilerplates’.
