Probably the most used Internet Service of all is electronic mail: eMail. It has truly revolutionized our way of communication. When in the past communication meant an effort in time, personal presence and money, eMail rids us of all the intricate necessities. No one can hinder you from sitting down at your computer, opening your eMail client and writing a message of any desired length. It is free – any fee is included with your ISP – and delivered almost or mostly instantaneously. As a recipient it is your choice to attend to your electronic mail whenever you like. Of course, all this can also work against you and then you suffer from never ending eMails praising the benefits of goods and services you never cared to know about: spam - unsolicited eMail sent to you because it is simple, easy and cheap, and whereas your letter box for snail mail has a limited volume, your electronic mail box is practically unlimited.
You can use eMail to stay in touch with your family and friends, for your job and business. We used to be happy and satisfied with sending information – like in a letter - we nowadays expect also pictures, music and more to be fully taken care off.
